PROPOSAL INFORMATION

Iceland by Mountain Bike: travel Diary from north of the world. An adventure between glaciers and volcanos.  (I.M.A.)

Outline
This is an educational project: we’re planning a travel in mountain bike around Iceland. We’re two bikers from Italy, founders of the sport club “Alpi Del Sole”. We are a physicist and a environmental scientist. Our expedition consist in a 1000km tour in Iceland by mountain bike to reach the most significative places of the country, with some trekking to volcanos and volcanic areas: our journey to Iceland will be a good occasion to hold some conferences in Italy. We are Plannign to have some conferences in Genova, Savona, Milano. We’re planning to have also some photo exhibition in autumn. The diary of our adventure in Iceland will be a good occasion to talk about themes such as geology, glaciology (Icelnad has the bigger glacier of Europe) and nature. During conferences we will show videos and photos of Iceland landscapes and we will talk about the complex geological situation of Iceland, how Geothermal power can be used, how glacier evolves, how people live in sub-artic regions and we’ll link all this to the near polar region.

Diffusion of ideas and themes of IPY, during our conferencese and shows.
