CLIMATE CHANGE IN TROPICAL AND SUBTROPICAL AFRICA  (CCTSA)

Outline
1-Study the Climate change in tropical and subtropical Africa( rainfall , temperature ) a) Statistical method b) Dynamic method -Methodology The main aim of the project is to implement in operation use a statically and /or dyn

Theme(s)   Major Target
Polar-global linkages and teleconnections
  Natural or social sciences research

What significant advance(s) in relation to the IPY themes and targets can be anticipated from this project?
1-a better understand of the trend and climatic variability in temperature over tropical , subtropical and polar region. 2- the relation of the climate veriability of SST of ocean and rainfall over east Africa which sources the water of Nile flood

What international collaboration is involved in this project?
International collaboration is involved in this project between the meteorological authority of Egypt (EMA), ICSU, WMO.

FIELD ACTIVITY DETAILS

Geographical location(s) for the proposed field activities:
Tropical and subtropical region in Africa and also the polar region

Approximate timeframe(s) for proposed field activities:
Arctic: The overall planning to achieved that during period 18 months
Antarctic: n/a

Significant facilities will be required for this project:
Data required Data used in this study are:1- temperature and rainfall, data 1-data of temperature in tropical , subtropical and polar regions , at grid point 2 x 2- global average to each month from period 1960-2000. 3-data of rainfall in tropical

Will the project leave a legacy of infrastructure?
Training Course of training of two weak in the (data format and statistical analysis) - Workshop Work shop (3 days )(effect the climate change in tropical and subtropical region)

How is it envisaged that the required logistic support will be secured?
Consortium
National agency

Has the project been "endorsed" at a national or international level?
NO

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND STRUCTURE

Is the project a short-term expansion (over the IPY 2007-2008 timeframe) of an existing plan, programme or initiative or is it a new autonomous proposal?
New

How will the project be organised and managed?
2 superviser,4 research workers ,2 assistants 2 research workers (first group ) 1-preparing the data of temperature and rainfall of in tropical , subtropical and polar regions, at grid point 2 x 2 global. 2- Divided the region in

What are the initial plans of the project for addressing the education, outreach and communication issues outlined in the Framework document?
- Course of training of two weak in the (data format and statistical analysis) -Work shop (3 days )(effect the climate change in tropical and subtropical region) and participation to seminars

What are the initial plans of the project to address data management issues (as outlined in the Framework document)?
1- Zonal wind ,SST, data The data used are zonal wind (m/s) component at different levels ,SST , for June and July monthly mean during 1984 and 1988 and precipitation rate composite anomaly at the surface from July to September during 1984 and 19

How is it proposed to fund the project?
European Union

Is there additional information you wish to provide?
The overall planning to achieved that during period 18 months summarizes as follows : -Month 4 months (rainfall) 1- preparing the data of rainfall in tropical and subtropical region , at grid point 2 x 2 global. 2- Divided the region in tropical
