CANADA #120: Labrador IPY Conference  (LIPY)

Outline
The Combined Councils of Labrador are interested in hosting an IPY conference in Labrador under the theme Global Linkages to advance understanding on all scales of the links and interactions between polar regions and to improve communications. The CCL plan to partner with local partners such as the Labrador Institute and North Link.

What significant advance(s) in relation to the IPY themes and targets can be anticipated from this project?
The conference would be intended to highlight Labrador as an often overlooked polar region and other northern regions in similar circumstances. It is also intended to build upon the growing partnership between Labrador and the circumpolar.

What international collaboration is involved in this project?
Complete circumpolar involvement would be sought through partnerships with www.northlink.ca

This pre-proposal has been reviewed and is being submitted by the Canadian Steering Committee (CSC). Ongoing discussions will integrate this pre-proposal into a larger network of related national and international initiatives. The CSC has initially sorted this pre-proposal into: THEME: Education, Outreach & Communication SUB-THEME: Conferences & Workshops
